Essay writing is given as a form of writing to students, right from the initial years of school. There are two different types of essay that are given to them in school. Both of these have different purposes. The first one is given to young children in the initial years of school. These essay assignments are given mainly to young students to get them acquainted with writing frequently. This is done with the purpose to improve their writing skills and to encourage them to write more and freely. It also teaches the young students all about writing in different formats and on a variety of topics. The second type of essay writing is given to the older children in school I the later years of their schooling. The initial years of essay writing get the children familiar to writing properly and more frequently and the later years are a test of how well these children write. Based on this the children or students are awarded marks. SO we see that both the types of essay assignments given to students are linked with each other.
Essay writing really does wonders for young students. For one thing, it encourages them to write more. Once they write more and more, their writing skills get better and better with time until the point where they can write beautiful essays. This encourages them to write even more and even better than they did before. Other than this, what this does for students is that it also encourages them to read more on the specified topic. Reading on the topic increases their knowledge about it. After this, gradually students get in to the habit of reading more and more and continue to expand their knowledge. This is followed up by the student’s development of his own thoughts and ideas. As the student reads more and gathers information, he starts to see all the points of view on a variety of different topics because of essay writing. Because of this the student comes to his or her own conclusion and gradually begins to form his or her own ideas. When the student feels confident enough of these, he or she slowly but steadily starts to use them in their essays. While essays might have started out with making the student more informed and aware, it gradually leads to his or her overall development. This is because once the student starts to form his or her own ideas and he or she begins to feel more confident of him or herself.
There are many more advantages of essay writing that work in the favor of young students. For the starting part it gets them into the habit of putting in hard work and effort in to the things that they do. After this they learn the importance of managing time and that of managing words. But the best part of writing essays is that they learn to stay focused on their work and ultimately through sheer hard work and patience, produce a beautifully written essay.
