The great essay writing process

Most students find essay writing to be one of the most boring, tiring and painful forms of writing assignment. Most students feel this way because they have poor writing skills because of which they can’t write good essays. Many other feel this way because they are poor with time management and cannot finish essays properly on time. There are many other students who feel this way about essay writing because they are not fluent in the language. These students need to realize that writing of essays is not very difficult or tough as they imagine it to be. In fact with adequate practice and enthusiasm, it can actually be a very interesting process.

The following are some tips to being a good essay writer.

• Understanding the topic of the essay and the question

Students first need to think about what sort of essay they have bee given to write. After this they should think about the essay topic itself. Students need to read the topic name and figure out hat they are supposed to do exactly and what is expected of them. Brainstorming is great way to come up with some ideas for the essay.

• Researching

This is the most important part of any essay writing assignment. Researching basically involves reading through a number of references such as books, journals, published papers, newspapers, magazines and other sources to come up with matter for the essay.

• Making an outline or a basic layout

This part involves the writer making basic plan about how his or her essay must turn out. This doesn’t have to be very specific but making an outline should give the reader some clarity and perspective on how he or she imagines his or her final essay writing assignment to look like.

• Coming up with a thesis

A thesis is what the writer believes about the topic of the essay. It should basically contain the thoughts and views of the writer. The thesis must also be backed up by a sufficient amount of evidence or proof.

• Rough draft

Here the writer should just put his or her pen to paper and start writing a rough draft. It doesn’t have to be perfect but just needs to give the writer an indication about what ever mistakes and errors there are in his or her essay writing assignment.

• Rechecking and editing

Finally after completing the essay, the writer must double check it by reading through it a couple of times and then correcting the mistakes in it.
