A Letter to My Postgraduate Self

May 2, 2017

Dear future Lucy,

How are you doing in your postgraduate life? How does it feel to be free from studying? Do you like your new work? I hope you are helping people as you have always dreamt. It is important to do what you love, because not everyone can allow this. However, this is not what I wanted to talk about in this letter. Right now, I want to give you some useful pieces of advice that will work if you lose your financial freedom and do not know what your next steps should be.

First of all, all college students are scared to think about their future job because they do not know how to find it. I am scared too. Personally, I do not know what exactly I want to do for life after I graduate. So do many of my friends. On the other hand, I know for sure, that you should not use every opportunity to get employed. Always remember your real worth!

Another important thing I want to warn you about is to avoid taking loans if possible. Even if you do, always make sure you are able to return the money. You may always earn some extra money using your blog or selling unnecessary stuff. Remember about your hobby and make it bring profit. You have always been good in sewing, so try to turn it into a small business. See, there are many ways to find financial stability. So, stop being skeptical and look for opportunities.

Also, I want to advise you not to forget about planning. I know you hate this, but I do not urge you to plan your whole life. Just create a plan for a month and follow it. This is what I do right now and want you to continue doing. Having a plan will definitely help you to reach your goals.

Finally, do not give up whatever happens! I trust in you and I know you are capable of more.

I wish you good luck in your life. May all your dreams come true!

Best wishes,
